Getting started

Choosing mental-health support

Questions that can help you consider fit, scope, availability and practical needs.

A calm, inclusive scene supporting this Havelin guide

Start with the kind of help you want

You do not need to know a diagnosis or therapy method before asking for support. It can help to name what is making daily life harder, what you hope might change and whether you prefer remote or in-person sessions.

Look for clear professional information

A profile should explain a professional’s approved title, areas of experience, methods, languages, format, location or jurisdiction, price or funding and relevant boundaries.

Fit is allowed to be personal

Availability, communication style, cultural context, language and other voluntarily shared preferences may matter. A neutral switching path is part of good access; changing professionals does not mean you failed.
